Posted on 24. Dec, 2009 by Mohale Muzi in The Interview
Briefly introduce yourself, age and where are you based?
I’m Simrandeep Singh, upcoming software engineer from Chandigarh. I’m pursuing B.Tech from Computer Science and Technology. I’m passionate about technology and love to read tech blogs and latest buzz around the internet.
Tell us about your blog and what inspired it?
I started my blogging career with blogger platform and later on I bought my own domain name TricksDaddy and moved to Wordpress. I decided to become a software engineer from my childhood only, so I opted for B.Tech in computers and that was the main reason that I started my blog related to technology. Frankly speaking I’m not inspired by anyone when I started my blog.
Before blogging what were you doing?
I was studying in school before blogging: D Now I’m studying in college.
You’re a computer science student, how many hours per day do you spend on your blog outside your studies?
It’s not a fixed time. Whenever I get some time I start blogging. On average I spend around 2-3 hours daily for my blog.
Between the Google Adsense banner below headline and the banner at the bottom of your post, which generates most clicks?
After changing the theme of my blog, the banner below headline is getting more clicks than the banner at the bottom of the posts.
Can you explain the 100% revenue sharing program for guest bloggers?
100% revenue sharing program is for guest authors. It means all the guest authors are able to display their own adsense ads along with their articles and they will get the 100% revenue of their articles. The author will not keep any share of the revenue that their articles make.
What is your content generation strategy and do you keep to it?
I keep on experimenting with new things on internet. Whenever I find or learn something new I write it on my blog. I love to write tutorials for WordPress and articles regarding web design and web development.
Since blogging, what is the biggest mistake you’ve ever made and what did you learn from it?
The mistakes that I have made till now can be ignored as they are only little mistakes. Well I think I could have bought my own domain name when I started my blog on blogger platform. That is the biggest mistake.
How do you generate traffic for your blog?
My blog’s traffic mostly comes from the search engines. I use SU also to generate traffic. It helps me a lot in generating traffic. SU is a source of life time traffic. Other sources include twitter, facebook, referral sites.
Is your blog authored by yourself only or multiple bloggers and why?
I am the only author of my blog. I don’t want to have more authors for my blog but I have some contributors that guest blog at my blog TricksDaddy.
Given an opportunity to sell your blog now, what would you charge for it?
I will not sell my blog at any cost. I love my blog.
What is your opinion on domain name and blog flipping, do you participate in that space?
I have not participated in domain flipping.
Within the next 12 months, what are your goals for the blog?
I want PR5 for my blog and Alexa rank under 10K. BTW it’s a long list.
What have been the highlight(s) in your blogging career?
There are many highlights that include:
* Selling advertisement on my blog first time for $200 that was the great moment for me J
*Receiving my first adsense check.
*Getting PR4 for my blog
* Approached by many people for an interview including SpeakBindas and you.
Tell us about your workstation, is it within your bedroom/dedicated home-office/office park?
I blog from my PC that is within my bedroom. I equally use my laptop for blogging purpose.
What gadget or software makes your blogging a pleasure?
Wordpress makes my blogging a pleasure.
Blogging is a lonely profession, how do you keep yourself motivated?
My friends play a great role in motivating me. I also want to thank my valuable readers who motivate me by leaving their valuable comments on my blog.

can we have some interviews with some true internet entrepreneurs that can add some knowledge value? All these Indian college blogger interviews are getting rather monotonous and tedious with very little value added….
Also try and customize some of the questions and lets get some more in depth questions & answers

Pradeep, I notice that college students in India are active bloggers, why is that the case?

I think that is because a lot of people involved in tech don’t necessarily get into engineering colleges. They often resort to reading tech blogs to keep up with their passion. If the readership is young, so will be the authors….
